Several resources that could be useful as you talk with children about trauma are included below.

This morning National Public Radio's Leila Fadel talked with Dr. Melissa Brymer of the UCLA/Duke University National Center for Child Traumatic Stress, about what to do for children after Tuesday's school shooting in Texas. That audio clip can be downloaded by clicking here. In the interview Dr. Brymer references a great children's book, Once I Was Very, Very Scared. A free PDF and video version of the book can be obtained here.

Several local school districts have referenced a helpful resource by the National Association of School Psychologists. Talking to Children about Violence: Tips for Teachers & Parents. It's found here.

Fairfax Public Schools have put together a page of resources here.
